Eau Claire (WQOW)- The City of Eau Claire is wanting to team up with UW-Eau Claire and other organizations to create an event center big enough to hold thousands of people. In 2018, the City of Eau Claire and Visit Eau Claire funded a study to explore the feasibility of an expanded event center and convention center that would be associated with the Sonnentag project.
The study found both facilities are needed to support economic development in the city, so they’ve decided to be part of this new project.
City officials said they want to expand the facility so it can hold a little over 5,000 people, which is 1,000 more than the previous plan.
