This expansion features a mixed-use entertainment and event district that will connect downtown to Whataburger Field and the rest of the ABC Complex through an activated urban trail.

Throughout the United States, mixed-use developments serve cities in various ways. Highlighted as one of the most successful examples of mixed-use areas, Kansas City Power & Light provides a dining, shopping, office, and entertainment district in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The $850 million district is named after the art deco Kansas City Power & Light Building, comprises nine blocks on the South side of the downtown loop, and is one of the largest development projects in the Midwestern United States. It includes more than 50 bars, restaurants, and shops and a one-block entertainment area called KC Live! with two floors of bars and restaurants, a covered outdoor courtyard, and a concert venue. The KC Live! hosts over 150 free events annually and is directly across the street from the 18,000-capacity T-Mobile Center, one of the United States’ busiest arenas.

Officials said there hasn’t been a grocery store franchise in east Temple, causing the majority of residents to walk miles to the nearest one because of lack of transportation.

Wasco County has contracted with Hunden Strategic Partners, which is performing an economic and feasibility study for a new indoor and/or outdoor sports facility in The Dalles.

East Temple residents continue to express a need and desire for a grocery store in the Ferguson Park or Crestview neighborhoods despite a recommendation from a Chicago-based consultant against such a venture.
